This article answers 10 common questions about custom bionic models. It covers size limits (up to 25 meters), outdoor durability with weather-resistant materials, customization time (30-45 days, expeditable), service life (5-10 years) and maintenance. Also included are details on customization from pictures, weight/foundation needs, interactive functions, eco-friendly materials, other animal options, and deposit/refund policies.
Receiving dozens of inquiries about custom bionic models every day, we find that everyone's questions are surprisingly similar: "How big can you make?" "How many years can it last outdoors?" "Can it be modified if I'm not satisfied?" As a factory with 10 years of experience, we have sorted out the 10 most frequently asked questions by customers and attached professional answers - after reading this, all the customization details you care about will be clear.
1. What's the largest model you can make? Is there a size limit?
Currently, the largest model we have made is a 25 - meter - long Argentinosaurus model, which required 3 cranes for installation. Theoretically, there is no absolute size limit, but for models over 15 meters, transportation and installation conditions need to be considered: such as whether it can pass through highway toll stations (with a width limit of 3.5 meters) and whether there is hoisting space on site. We will send engineers to survey the site in advance and work out a detailed segmented transportation plan.
2. Can models placed outdoors withstand heavy rain and high temperatures?
Absolutely, but you need to choose the "outdoor - specific version". The skin of our outdoor models is made of weather - resistant silica gel (withstand temperatures from - 40℃ to 70℃), the metal skeleton has undergone double anti - corrosion treatment (galvanizing + plastic spraying), and the circuit interfaces are fully sealed. During the heavy rain in Henan last year, 10 dinosaur models in a scenic spot were soaked in water for 3 days and worked normally after drying. However, it should be noted that in typhoon - prone areas, it is recommended to install ground anchors for fixation to avoid being knocked down by strong winds.
3. How long does it take to customize a model? Can it be expedited?
The regular cycle is 30 - 45 days (from confirming the drawings to delivery), depending on the complexity: static models can be completed in 20 days, and dynamic models with more than 10 interactive actions may take 50 days. For expediting, the fastest delivery can be in 15 days (with a 30% expediting fee), but some details will be sacrificed (such as changing manual painting to machine spraying). It is recommended to plan in advance, and we can reserve production schedules.
4. How long is the service life of the model? Can it be repaired if it breaks down?
Static models have a service life of 8 - 10 years, and dynamic models have a service life of 5 - 7 years (mainly due to the aging of vulnerable parts such as motors). We provide "lifetime maintenance services": free replacement of parts within the warranty period (1 year), and only material fees will be charged after the warranty period. Last year, a customer's 8 - year - old dinosaur model broke down, and we could still find matching motor parts - this is the advantage of factory direct supply, unlike middlemen who "ignore after selling".
5. Can it be made completely according to my pictures or drawings?
More than 90% can be done. If the drawings have detailed size and structure marks, we can restore them 1:1; if there are only reference pictures, the design team will first draw 3D renderings and mark possible deviations (such as visual errors caused by picture angles). A customer once brought a childhood drawing of a "dinosaur with wings", and the final model we made not only retained the childlike interest but also conformed to basic mechanical principles.
6. How much does the model weigh? Is a special foundation needed?
Small models (1 - 3 meters) weigh about 50 - 100 kg and can be placed on ordinary ground; medium - sized models (5 - 10 meters) weigh 300 - 800 kg, and it is recommended to lay a concrete cushion; large models (over 10 meters) weigh more than 1 ton and require a reinforced concrete foundation (we will provide specific load - bearing parameters). Customers don't need to worry about installation; our team will bring equipment to install and debug on site.
7. How precise can the interactive functions be? For example, can it recognize specific sounds?
Currently, achievable interactions include: infrared induction (moving when people approach), sound recognition (specific commands such as "roar" and "shake head"), touch response (different actions when touching different parts), and APP remote control (setting action time). The most precise one can achieve "face recognition" (making special actions only for VIP customers), but the cost will increase by 50%. It is recommended to choose the appropriate interaction level according to the budget.
8. Are the materials environmentally friendly? Will there be any peculiar smell?
The silica gel, PU, and fiberglass we use are all food - grade or industrial - grade environmentally friendly materials, which have passed SGS testing, and the formaldehyde content is far lower than the national standard. New models may have a slight silica gel smell, which will dissipate after ventilation for 1 - 2 weeks. For scenes with high environmental protection requirements such as kindergartens and shopping malls, we can do deodorization treatment in advance to ensure that there is no smell when delivered.
9. Besides dinosaurs, can you make other animals?
Of course, dinosaurs only account for 60% of our business. What we have made includes: prehistoric animals (mammoths, saber - toothed tigers), existing animals (elephants, lions, pandas), mythical creatures (dragons, unicorns), and even sci - fi creatures (aliens, monsters in movies). As long as there is a clear image reference, they can be customized.
10. After paying the deposit, can it be modified or refunded if I'm not satisfied?
The deposit (30% of the total amount) is used to start the design and purchase materials. During the design stage (before confirming the 3D drawing), free modifications can be made; if major changes are needed after confirming the drawings (such as changing from Tyrannosaurus rex to Triceratops), the cost of materials already used must be paid; if the order is completely canceled, the deposit will not be refunded, but it can be converted into a prepayment for other products. Our principle is "communicate more in the early stage to avoid rework in the later stage", and we will provide 3 free opportunities to modify the drawings.
In fact, customizing a bionic model is like "tailoring clothes", there is no standard answer, only whether it suits your needs.
